Keeping the spirit of the past alive: i guru Cafe Lounge Bar What was once used by the Sirs, the Frères, of College des Frères St. Pierre as a dormitory and a guesthouse in the early 20th century is now the i guru Cafe Lounge Bar. The building remained a dormitory until 1935 but was sold by the church in the same year. Later on, between 1935 and 1962, the building served as a combat boot factory. When the factory relocated to upstate, the building became home to Yordan Usta’s furniture atelier. And this very atelier ended up becoming the muse of several celebrities in Turkey until the end of the 90s. The building that was once home to spiritual leaders and now i guru has its back leaned against the Genoese walls. It would be fair to call i guru the back yard of the Galata Tower. The timeless atmosphere will encircle you the second you step foot in i guru. You will find yourself surrounded by the serenity of the past, and the hectic bustling of the city will be long forgotten.
